Abstract
Aim of the project GridMotion is to merge two typologies of emergency situations. One regards the earthquake displaced people with a temporary need of a place to live in and the other one the refugees who are seeking for a new place to live. This is designed in Italy, country which is facing this two kinds of emergencies concurrently. Purpose of the project is to let interact this two groups and doing this to boost the economy of the hosting city which stopped due to economic crisis and earthquake.
GridMotion is based on a re-use principle, in fact it plugs itself into dismissed industrial sheds located in productive areas in a way to ensure the chance to facilitate the integration process of refugees.
Therefore, the process has to be seen as closed loop in which the area is initially used as emergency answer and, as soon the emergency is over, it can host local activities. In case of a new emergency, the site is ready to be used again. Strength of the idea is to have the chance to adapt, modify and customize the conformation of the lot considering different needs that the two groups could have over time.
