Abstract
This thesis deals with a new experimental building system, used in emergency situation for temporary dwelling. An initial analysis on current production suggested for the structural system to use materials related to the construction industry, but constructively designed for different functions. So we designed a solution using metal scaffolding, combined with wooden box elements and OSB braces, verified by finite element method calculation. In addition to the structural system a wide importance was given to the thermal insulation, made of multireflective material, that provides a barrier against infrared radiation and decrease the amount of energy transferred by thermal conduction in a very low thickness and weight. The realization of a prototype of the wall, in collaboration with a local company, has identified in the “real” system the best assembly choice, providing a solution to the problems encountered in the design phases. Logical thread that binds sequences path is the philosophy based on selfconstruction and recycling, taken as a reference at an early design ideas.
